Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez has revealed that it is his dream to play for Real Madrid, as per The Athletic

Having joined the Citizens from River Plate back in 2022, the Argentinian has enjoyed a successful time in recent years, winning the treble last year and also lifting the Premier League title last campaign.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a productive season last term, scoring 19 goals and registering 13 assists in 54 appearances. Although the number suggests that the forward played plenty of games last term, he wasn’t the first choice player in big games.

So, it has been reported that Alvarez is looking for a bigger role and therefore, he has been linked with a move away from the Citizens in recent times.

Chelsea are planning to strengthen their attacking department this summer and have registered their interest in signing him. However, along with the West London club, Atletico Madrid are also interested in acquiring his service.

Alvarez wants to play for Real Madrid

However, according to the report by The Athletic, Alvarez’s dream is to play for Real Madrid and he would be willing to join them should they make a concrete approach.

However, having recently signed Kylian Mbappe and Endrick, Real Madrid are currently well-stocked in their frontline and therefore, The Athletic states that it doesn’t look likely that Los Blancos will look to sign Alvarez this summer.

Man City don’t want to let their star man leave on a loan deal and will only sanction a permanent departure should his potential suitors offer a fee of around £68m.

Alvarez already showcased his qualities during his time at River Plate but having moved to the Etihad Stadium, he has developed his career under Pep Guardiola in recent times.

He is a highly talented player and La Liga could be an excellent destination for him to reach his full potential. However, Guardiola looks after him really well and also gives him plenty of playing time so Alvarez would be better off remaining at Man City as long as the Spanish boss remains there.

But, it is going to be interesting to see whether Real Madrid decide to make a swoop to sign him in future after knowing his desire to join the club.
