Everton have reportedly opened negotiations with Napoli to sign Jesper Lindstrom this summer, as per the transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The Toffees displayed promising performances under Sean Dyche last term but due to the point deduction having been found guilty of breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, they found themselves in danger of relegation.

However, in the end, they managed to survive comfortably, accumulating 40 points and staying 14 points ahead of the relegation zone.

Everton would be hoping to improve on their 15th-place finish next season and in order to help Dyche do that, they have already started working on signing to bolster the squad.

They have already purchased Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam to strengthen the centre-forward and the engine room respectively, but it now appears the Merseyside club are planning to add reinforcements to the flanks.

Everton in talks to sign Lindstrom

Writing on X, Romano has reported that Everton have identified Lindstrom as the top target and have already ‘opened talks’ with Napoli to get the deal done.

The journalist further claims that the Azzurri are open to selling their star player, hence the Toffees can manage to acquire his service in this transfer window.

Romano wrote:

“Everton have opened talks with Napoli to sign Jesper Lindstrøm as winger is next top target. Negotiations underway, Napoli are open to selling Jasper in case of good proposal, Everton on it.”

The Dane joined Napoli last summer following a successful spell at Eintracht Frankfurt, therefore he still has four years left in his current contract. So, Antonio Conte’s side are in a strong position to demand a large sum to sell the forward – who’s valued at around £18.5m by Transfermarkt.

The forward is a quick player and previously showcased his qualities at the highest level, helping Frankfurt win the Europa League. So, although he failed to find his feet at Napoli, he could be a shrewd acquisition for Everton should they sign him.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Merseyside club can eventually manage to acquire his service in this transfer window to strengthen the attacking department.
