Leeds United’s hopes of promotion have been dealt a blow with Crysencio Summerville heading to West Ham United.

His exit clause in his contract was activated by the club, allowing the Dutch forward to join the Premier League side.

A Challenging Summer for Leeds

Leeds were agonizingly close last season, being beaten in the play-off final with a solitary goal scored by Southampton at Wembley.

Now, they face the challenge of competing in the Championship once again, aiming for a return to the top-flight.

But Leeds have struggled in the summer with further star players, including Archie Gray who left for Tottenham Hotspur and Glen Kamara heading to Ligue 1 side Rennes.

Interest in Bobby Clark

The Athletic further added that Leeds were one of several clubs interested in Liverpool central midfielder Bobby Clark.

Despite the interest in Moses, Liverpool are still seeking a transfer fee of around £12 million for him and he faces stiff competition from RB Salzburg who have already had an offer turned down believed to be worth about £6m.

The 19-year-old has other potential suitors too, with the likes of Coventry City, Norwich and Sheffield United all interested in taking him on loan.

Mateo Joseph’s Potential Boost

Young Leeds striker Mateo Joseph had a frustrating last season with little game time. Despite his youth record, he only ever came off the bench during two years in the Championship.

Yet, his pre-season outings have been encouraging, he has four goals to his name against Hannover Schalke and Valencia.

The Need for Midfield Support

It was in midfield where Leeds particularly struggled last season, with no central midfielder managing to score more than one goal or contribute more than three assists.

If Bobby Clark comes in that could change it up. Clark has shown his ability to make an impact in the final third, with 18 goals and 11 assists in 64 appearances for Liverpool’s U18 and U21 teams. His performances in the 2023/24 season, including in the Europa League, further highlight his potential.

Bobby Clark could be a valuable addition to Leeds United, providing much-needed support for Mateo Joseph and boosting the team’s midfield capabilities.

With the summer transfer window still open, Leeds fans will be hoping for a successful bid to bring the talented youngster to Elland Road.
