Leeds United is showing interest in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers’ left-back Hugo Bueno.

The 21-year-old Spaniard, currently a backup to Rayan Ait-Nouri, is also being pursued by Celtic, Feyenoord, and Norwich City.

According to TEAMtalk’s James Marshment, a loan move seems most likely, as Wolves are unwilling to include an option to buy.

Competition for Bueno

The major reason Bueno is seemingly set on Celtic lies in the appeal of Champions League football.

They registered an interest in January and are looking to get a deal done now.

Despite Celtic’s strong links, Leeds United are also still very much involved with manager Daniel Farke keen to add to his ranks.

Leeds’ Defensive Needs

Leeds has already signed Jayden Bogle and Joe Rodon, but they are going long-term in defense.

Hugo Bueno, with his experience and potential, could provide much-needed competition for Junior Firpo on the left.

Since joining the Wolves academy in 2019, Bueno has made49 appearances while expressing his talent and potential.

Bueno’s Career and Stats

Bueno has made 42 appearances, including 23 starts, in the Premier League. With one goal to his name, the teenager has been solid defensively as well as providing a good offensive option.

His stats, including progressive carries and key passes, indicate his ability to impact both ends of the pitch.

Celtic’s Strong Push

Celtic are also keen & players want to come so this looks likely to happen.

The fact that both sides are in the US on their pre-season tours means any potential deal can be negotiated more easily.

His profile is the one Celtic are looking for to provide competition for Greg Taylor.

Leeds United will be hoping the next few weeks can prove decisive in their bid to tie up a deal for Bueno.

With Celtic appearing as the frontrunners, but Leeds’ enduring pursuit keeping them in contention.

Ultimately, fans will be intrigued to see how this transfer saga eventually pans out and if Leeds are able to complete a signing for the Austrian wonderkid.
