Manchester United are surprisingly plotting a move to bring Romelu Lukaku back from Chelsea in the next transfer window.
It comes as Erik ten Hag aims to add goals to his squad at the sharp end.
Anthony Martial out of the picture, and Marcus Rashford having run into a richly unpleasant spell since getting back on track.
Lukaku’s Situation
The Belgium striker, loaned out to Inter Milan and Roma from Manchester United, is valued at £38mn.
Chelsea are prepared to offload him for good following his underwhelming comeback at Stamford Bridge United are prepared to take their chance and strengthen up front, despite Sanchez’s wages of £325,000 per week potentially causing a problem.
Competition and Concerns
Inter head coach Antonio Conte is believed to have an agreement in place with Lukaku, although Napoli are also considering a move if they can offload Victor Osimhen.
Nevertheless, if Napoli are unable to come up with the money for Odilon Koulonda and Fofana talks will head down a different avenue, perhaps towards Manchester United.
Future Prospects
Still at 31- years-old Lukaku is entering the twilight of his career and possibly not a long-term solution for United.
The suggestion is that they could be better off going for a younger striker like Joshua Zirkzee, who would cost £34million.
A move to United is gathering pace for Zirkzee, and this transfer could be close.
