Ex-Chelsea boss Graham Potter is willing to return to management and claims he has learned a lot from his time.
He lasted under seven months at Stamford Bridge, with 11 defeats in 31 matches.
He leaves the Blues in a lowly 11th place in the Premier League and without Champions League football next season.
That knocked him back but he has spent the intervening years mulling over his management philosophies and working on making himself ready for another go of it.
Linked to Manchester United
Potter has previously been mentioned for the Manchester United job, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is influential at the club, an admirer of his work at Brighton and Hove Albion.
That was successful in that he turned Brighton into a solid Premier League outfit.
There have been whispers, too, that Potter was on United’s radar as a potential replacement for Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford earlier in the year when performances fluctuated under Ten Hag.
Meanwhile, Potter’s name continues to circulate as United’s future managerial options remain uncertain.
Potter Ready for New Opportunities
Potter said in a recent interview that he is ready to take up football management again.
He said that he is prepared for a while, and that he can hardly wait to proceed onward exploring new opportunities.
Potter admitted that Chelsea’s experience wasn’t as successful, but he views it as a learning experience that will make him a better coach.
He used the example of both Eddie Howe and Unai Emery, both of whom have thrived after taking time away from the game.
What’s Next for Potter?
There is much curiosity over where Potter will manage next, as potential openings become available and jobs open up in the Premier League or overseas.
And all while Erik ten Hag feels the heat in his job at Manchester United with Potter’s still being mentioned.
Potter, though, says the next job “must be me”, and he took his time to reflect before deciding what he should do next.
Fans and pundits are also keen to see where Potter lands in his next chapter in football management.
