Tierney Wants Celtic Return
Last campaign, Newcastle United came in 7th place in the Premier League as they were unable to get their hands on European football. The Scotsman reported that this might actually suit Eddie Howe’s team as they will have fewer games to play, and will have received a significant boost to their domestic campaign. These are the latest transfer rumors and news from the club.
Newcastle United were linked with a move for Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney last summer, but ultimately the Scroats sold for too good a player. Eddie Howe was willing but the move did not go through. Tierney spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad and is expected back with Arsenal for pre-season.
Yet, his next destination is up in the air. However, Football Insider claims Tierney is keen to go back to old team Celtic. The Atletico Arsenal are offering it. The left-back came through the ranks at Celtic and played 170 games for the club before joining Arsenal in 2019, playing 124 times for the Gunners.
Watford Eyeing Ritchie
Watford want to open talks with Matt Ritchie after his exit from Newcastle. The 25-year-old will become a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the month. The 34-year-old moved to Newcastle in 2016 and went on to make 215 appearances, scoring 25 times.
Tom Cleverley, the manager of Watford is excited to add Ritchie to his squad. Watford needs to be clever in the market and said A creative approach in transfers due to finance constraints, and with his knowledge and networking, will help bring in a new body into the club, said Cleverley.
With all of that said, Newcastle are plotting moves for Kieran Tierney and Matt Ritchie, with Tierney tempted to head back to Celtic and Ritchie attracting attention from Watford.
