Leeds United have reportedly made a £2.5 million offer for Ryan Kent from Fenerbahce as they look to replace Crysencio Summerville.

This move comes after Leeds accepted a substantial offer from West Ham for Summerville, leaving a gap in their attacking lineup.

Leeds United’s Summer Transfer Activity

Leeds United have also been busy in the transfer window, including four new additions to their team under manager Daniel Farke who prepares for the upcoming season.

Nonetheless, they have also lost many influential figures. Tottenham signed teenage star Archie Gray from Leeds via a release clause and Glen Kamara was sold to Rennes just six months after he was brought in from Rangers.

Leeds brought in Jayden Bogle and Joe Rothwell to replace Gray & Kamara. Now, as Summerville is set for a West Ham move, Leeds are looking to supplement their attack with the signing of Ryan Kent.

The Bid for Ryan Kent

Sport Witness reported that Leeds have launched a loan offer of up to £2.5 million for Ryan Kent.

The 27-year-old winger, who now plies his trades for Fenerbahce has been a long-term target at Elland Road following Marcelo Bielsa’s time.

Kent, a former Rangers player who has also had spells on loan with Barnsley and Bristol City in the Championship.

Ryan Kent’s Career and Potential Impact

Ryan Kent, praised as a “wizard” by former teammate Leon Balogun, joined Fenerbahce just over a year ago and has a contract until 2027.

The attacking midfielder then returned to Turkey for the first time in nearly three-and-a-half years and featured 19 times, netting one goal and supplying two assists.

While it has been a tough start to his time at Fenerbahce, a switch back to the UK would give him every chance of finding that form once more in Leeds.

His overall senior record stands at 64 assists and his previous managers, including Steven Gerrard, have praised Kent’s sharpness and thirst for progress.

Gerrard said “He looks so sharp and has taken his game to a new level. He is a fun player to both watch and coach.”

The Challenge of Replacing Summerville

Replacing Crysencio Summerville, who contributed 20 goals and nine assists last season, is a daunting task for Leeds.

The loss of Summerville is a blow, with the player set to sign a long-term contract at West Ham.

Summerville will potentially cost more than £25 million including add-ons, giving Leeds the riches to be able to find a good arrival.

However, some argue that Leeds need an in-form player to fill Summerville’s shoes, and Kent, who scored just once last season, may not be the immediate answer.

The success of this transfer depends on Kent’s adapting and delivering consistently in the Championship.

Leeds United’s move for Ryan Kent shows their intent in the transfer market.

With Summerville’s exit looming, the club are keen to add numbers and keep their team in contention.

The reported £2.5 million offer for Kent is a smart play that minimizes the maximum risk.

Certainly, only time will tell if Kent is up to the job of helping Leeds fulfill their objectives for next term.
