The Liverpool LASK team news points to a changed starting lineup on Wednesday, with Cody Gakpo, Alexander Isak and Dominik Szoboszlai still unavailable for the Champions League match.
The club’s official pre-match update confirms the absences. Andoni Iraola said the injured trio were not far away, but could not give a firm date for any of them to return.
Liverpool LASK team news: three players still sidelined
A 23-player squad travelled to Austria without Gakpo, Isak and Szoboszlai. The Liverpool LASK team news update said all three also missed the defeat by Manchester City following fitness issues sustained on international duty.
Iraola said none had yet trained with the group. Their progress is being assessed day by day, and he did not confirm whether they would be ready for the next domestic or European fixtures.
Changes likely as Liverpool manage freshness
The Liverpool LASK team news also points to rotation. The manager said it would be difficult to repeat exactly the same starting lineup because of freshness and minor fitness concerns. He nevertheless stressed the importance of winning again in Europe.
The LASK game is the second of nine matches in a 28-day spell. Iraola said that schedule reduces training time and increases the importance of video preparation and keeping players fresh.
He also spoke about Bradley Barcola building connections with team-mates through playing time. That does not confirm a particular starting role for Wednesday.
Other absences for the LASK trip
Elsewhere in the Liverpool LASK team news, Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni remain long-term absentees. Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo are ineligible because they were not included in Liverpool’s league-phase squad.
LASK may be without George Bello and Moses Usor after both left their defeat by Rapid Wien with injuries. Ramiz Harakate is out after an anterior cruciate ligament injury in July.
The match kicks off at 5.45pm BST. Read the LASK viewing guide for coverage details. Availability and Iraola’s comments are from Liverpool’s official team-news update.
