Rúben Amorim will lead Manchester United for the first time as they face Ipswich Town on Sunday, November 25, at Portman Road.

The 39-year-old Portuguese manager steps in after a steady interim spell under Ruud van Nistelrooy, who stabilized the club following Erik ten Hag’s departure.

United are currently languishing in 13th place in the Premier League, their worst-ever start to a campaign.

The team is desperate for points, and Amorim aims to breathe new life into the squad, focusing on principles, identity, and character during his early days.

Amorim’s First Challenge

Amorim conducted his first training session with the team earlier this week, preparing them for a crucial clash against Ipswich.

His task is made harder with key injuries, Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez are unavailable.

Matthijs de Ligt, Jonny Evans, and teenage prospect Leny Yoro are expected to form the defensive line.

Andre Onana will guard the net, with Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui providing width as wing-backs.

The midfield is likely to feature Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte, though Kobbie Mainoo could return from injury soon.

Attack Under Scrutiny

Amorim’s tactical reshuffle will see a departure from traditional wingers, leaving Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Amad Diallo competing for a central role alongside Bruno Fernandes.

Rasmus Højlund is expected to lead the line, with Joshua Zirkzee providing backup.

The manager praised Amad for his recent performances and versatility, hinting at his potential to shine under the new system.

Meanwhile, Rashford and Garnacho will need to rediscover form to reclaim their starting spots.

Ipswich’s Momentum

Ipswich Town enters the match in high spirits, having secured their first Premier League win of the season against Tottenham before the international break.

Managed by Kieran McKenna, a former Manchester United coach, Ipswich will look to capitalize on their momentum and stun their former club.

Where to Watch

The match kicks off at 4:30 PM and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.
