There are suggestions that Thomas Tuchel was on the verge of signing with Manchester United, prior to him agreeing to take over as the head coach of England.
Previous reports claimed that Tuchel was to take the position of Erik ten Hag due to a five game winless skid by United.
After hearing that Manchester United was interested in hiring Tuchel, the FA moved quickly to make him England’s head coach.
While Tuchel is now off the table, Erik ten Hag still sits on the hot seat especially with United bowling out in their next games against Brentford and Fenerbahce.
Injury Crisis at United Still Unresolved
Tuchel’s departure now puts Erik ten Hag’s position at Manchester United in doubt.
United has been experiencing a very bitter struggle going for five consecutive matches without a win, making fans and management pull their hair.
It has premised many thinking on the fact that should Ten Hag fail to get the needed change soon, his time at the club could be running thin.
This led to Manchester United putting their interest in Tuchel as they look for a manager with accolades in his resume such as titles won with Chelsea, PSG and Bayern Munich.
He would claim the much needed change at Old Trafford given his managerial experience.
Tuchel Chooses England Role
However, the FA was swift to ensure that it would never allow Tuchel to ever leave for Manchester United.
He was approved fast and they moved closer to him by offering him the position of the English national team manager.
Tuchel, a winner of the Champions League, was the one that perfectly fitted for both positions.
Still, Manchester United’s dreams ended with his confirmation to the England position.
What’s Next for United?
United is left looking for answers. If they don’t win the upcoming matches, it’s believed Ten Hag will be sacked.
The next fixtures against Brentford and Fenerbahce could determine his fate. With Tuchel unavailable, the club will need to explore other options for a potential replacement.
