Ruben Amorim, the incoming Manchester United manager, has shown a strong interest in bringing back former United full-back Alvaro Carreras.

Carreras, who now plays at Benfica, has had an impressive season and established himself as a key player under manager Bruno Lage.

Amorim sees Carreras as a potential fit for his 3-4-3 system at United, where left-side strength is needed.

Carreras’ Progress Since Leaving United

Since leaving United in January and signing permanently with Benfica, Carreras has caught the attention of Europe’s biggest clubs.

With a buyback clause in his Benfica contract, Manchester United could potentially re-sign the Spanish full-back, a move that could reinforce United’s left flank given Luke Shaw’s and Malacia’s injury records.

Known for his attacking style, Carreras would be an asset in Amorim’s wing-back-focused strategy.

This return could also address one of United’s past missteps in transfers under Erik ten Hag.

United’s board and Amorim are closely considering this option as they restructure for a successful season.
