Manchester United is in much better shape this season, especially compared to last year when their defence was badly hit by injuries.Â
In their heavy 4-0 loss against Crystal Palace, they had to rely on makeshift centre-backs, Casemiro and Jonny Evans, the only available options.Â
However, this time, United’s defensive situation looks stronger.
With Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, and a fully fit Jonny Evans available, the Reds have more defensive options for their upcoming game against Palace.
Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount have also returned to training and should be available for selection, adding more attacking power to the team.
Crystal Palace’s Injury Problems
Crystal Palace, on the other hand, faces its own struggles.Â
Manager Oliver Glasner confirmed that three players will miss the match against United.
Midfielder Cheick Doucoure is expected to be out for several weeks. Matheus Franca and on-loan defender Trevor Chalobah will also not feature in this week’s game, reducing Palace’s squad depth.
Key Players to Watch
Despite the injuries, Palace still boasts some strong players. Eberechi Eze and Jean-Phillipe Mateta are expected to pose a threat to United’s defence.Â
In the midfield, Adam Wharton will also be one to watch. Former United goalkeeper Dean Henderson, now with Palace, will be looking to keep United at bay.
United beat Palace in the Carabao Cup last season but lost both home and away in the Premier League.Â
With both teams battling injuries, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top this time.
